It's that time of year again when we have to worry about paying the taxman. Tax forms are available at the Library, plus our Income Tax post has been updated so you can find what you need online. Please contact the Reference Department for additional resources and information on local tax assistance programs.
The Library will have many tax forms; however, the following Web sites can help you find additional forms, as well as answers to your tax questions.

Where to go for help with tax preparation
Today, October 1, 2007, is the deadline for applying for the Homestead Exemption property tax relief credit. If you have missed it, don't worry, you can still receive the credit by applying in 2008.
The Homestead Exemption provides property tax relief to qualified senior citizens and permanently and totally disabled Ohioans. It takes the form of a credit on your property tax bills. A new law has expanded eligibility.
According to the Ohio Department of Taxation Web site, taxpayers who miss the 2007 filing deadline may still claim the credit for property taxes to be paid in 2008, but must wait until 2008 to apply.
Those who miss the deadline will need to file a late application for the missed tax year at the same time they file a timely application in 2008. The first day to file the application in 2008 is January 8, 2008; the last day is June 2, 2008.
Applications are available online from the Ohio Department of Taxation and the Montgomery County Auditor's Office. Look for new forms in 2008.
