Wednesday Summer Reading Programs

Our Wednesday lineup for the rest of the summer:
Wednesday, August 4 1:30 PM Join us for an afternoon of “Fishtank Tales” with Hands 2 Grow Puppets. Hands 2 Grow Puppets use Muppet-style puppetry to share its unique message. The performance will include a variety of puppets performing songs and skits as well as audience participation. Hands 2 Grow Puppets will delight audiences of all ages, no registration required.
Wednesday, August 11 1:30 PM
Join us outside the library for an afternoon of wet and wild fun. Wear your swimsuits and grab your towels for an afternoon of wet and wild fun! Join us for a variety of games and activities outside the library guaranteed to get you wet. This program is geared for school-aged children, no registration is required. In the case of rain, this program will be canceled.

Fangs Reading Club
Monday, June 28 - Saturday, July 31
In addition to the library’s reading program you can also participate in Fang’s Reading Club. During the month of July, earn a free ticket to the Sunday, August 15 1:05 PM Timber Rattlers Baseball Game. Keep track of the time you read and make your way around the bases earning prizes along the way. Hit a home run by reading 8 hours and a free ticket is yours! Sign up at the Youth Desk beginning Monday, June 28. This program runs until Saturday, July 31. Those participating in the program will receive a free ticket and will also be given the chance to purchase additional tickets at $6.50 a ticket. This program is for students entering K- 5th.

Edible Fear Factor - Thursday
Edible Fear Factor - Seafood Edition
Thursday, July 8 2:30 PM - How’s your stomach? Do you think you could eat Sardines? Anchovies? Could you drink a glass of clam juice? How about chocolate covered tuna? Come compete with other teens in 6th-12th grade in the library’s Edible Fear Factor: Seafood Edition—I Dare You! Prizes will be awarded to the teen that can eat (and keep down) anything. Please register by stopping by the Youth Desk.

Join musician extraordinaire Tom Pease for an outdoor concert on our front lawn. With movement, sign language, humor and joy, Tom creates concerts that leave audiences laughing and singing. Be Creative Carnival
Wednesday, August 19 1:00 PM
Earn book bucks all summer long by reading the books you love to read. Use them to buy prizes, pay off library fines, or SAVE them for the Be Creative Carnival on Wednesday, August 19 from 1:00-3:00 PM.
Each game at the carnival will cost 1 book buck and will include games such as Pull-a-Pencil, Duck Pond, a giant Bookworm Obstacle course, a giant Balloon Slide Jumper and more! Or you can use your books bucks to have your face painted, get a tattoo, make a treat bag OR you can enjoy some juice and popcorn.
To participate in everything at the carnival you will need to save at least 10 book bucks OR save them all and do the activities again and again. Tickets will also be available for $.25 each or 5 for $1.00 with the proceeds going to the Friends of the Lester Public Library. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

Teen Survivor Night 2009

Can you survive a night in the library? Compete with other 6th-12th graders in a variety of challenges to become Lester Public Library’s Survivor Champion. There will be only one winner. No registration required, snacks and soda provided. This program will be over by approximately 9:30 PM.
