Babygarten

Spring Sessions

April 22 - May 27

Mornings:  Thursdays, 9:30-10:30 AM
Evenings:  Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 PM

Babygarten is much more than a play group! Infants and their caregivers will share nursery rhymes, songs, and books but also get a chance to make fun projects that demonstrate the babies’ developmental milestones - usually a homemade toy or a baby book item.

Many projects and activities will emphasize the importance of reading to babies AND parents will learn how to do this most effectively. Each instructor will also share insight about infant development and parenting. The class concludes with a free play period.

Program meets once a week for 6 weeks.

Program is open to infants (birth to 18 months) and their caregivers and is limited to 12 participants per class.

To register, please call 793-7116 or stop by the children’s desk.

Hatrack Storytellers Inc.

Wednesday, April 1, 6:30 PM

HatrackTM Storytellers was formed in 1967 to present programs in a “Readers’ Theatre for Children” style.

Readers’ Theatre is called “Theatre of the Mind” because the audience has to provide the images for themselves. A group of trained interpreters (readers) consisting of both adults and children, take a story off the printed page and into the realms of sound and reaction.

The Hats are a visible symbol of the goals of Readers’ Theatre – stimulating imaginations, identifying multiple characters and representing the fun that comes from reading!

There are no space limitations – as long as the hat rack, readers, and audience are one.

We focus on children, joy of reading, growth in imagination, audience participation, and FUN!

Join Hatrack Storytellers Inc. for a special evening story time.

No registration required.

NEW - 1st Step Story Time

Winter Session: January 19 - March 9, Mondays 9:30-10:30 AM

1st Step is a fun, interactive program for children 1½ to 2½ years old and their caregivers. Throughout the program, toddlers will be exposed to a wide variety of music & movement activities, sign language, letter/word identification, numbers, colors, shapes, and other pre-literacy activities. Instructors will also share appropriate books, songs, and activities with caregivers for use at home.
Many toddlers are not quite ready for the structure of a more formal story time setting. 1st Step gives them the opportunity to explore their surroundings in an environment that encourages them to move and discover and very rarely sit still. At the same time 1st Step helps toddlers begin to learn how to follow directions, to listen, to respond appropriately in a group, and to become more aware of themselves and others.
Each 1st Step class consists of a 30 minute activity session followed by 30 minutes of free-play time. Caregivers should wear loose comfortable clothing and are strongly encouraged to be silly, sit on the floor, sing loudly and have fun!
1st Step meets once a week for 8 weeks from January 19 through March 9.

Class size is limited so please register by calling 793-7116.
