The unveiling of the Lester Bentley portrait of Dwight D. Eisenhower at the Lester Public Library, March 29, 2011, on what would have been Bentley's 103 birthday.

This commissioned portrait of Eisenhower painted by Two Rivers' native Lester Bentley in 1954 for Columbia University, New York.  Bentley was only 44 years old when he was selected for the honor.

Lester Bentley's widow, Connie, offered the personal Eisenhower portrait (Bentley painted two, the original hangs on the Columbia University Campus, New York) for sale to the Two Rivers Historical Society.  Many generous donations were made to secure it.  Sadly, it will be the last purchase of one of Lester's paintings from Constance Bentley, as she died on December 23, 2010.  

In attendance were two of Bentley's three sons, Claude and George.

St. Peter the Fisherman third grade class alphabets on display at the Lester Public Library.

Titled “The World at Our Fingertips”, it features the work of 22  talented artists from around the world and from various walks of life. All use what amounts to an iPhone as their creative medium. Basically, they use their fingertip on a small computer screen. In addition to this “revolutionary” medium they’ve all met through Flickr, the social photo network, not in a cafe in Paris (though they’d like that, too). They interact constantly without ever meeting and in some cases not even speaking the same language. They encourage and challenge each other.

Lester Public Library is proud to host the Eastern Wisconsin Conference Art Show.  Artists from area high schools have their art on display at the Lester Public Library, Two Rivers, Wisconsin.

The show runs April 23 through April 29, 2010.  Reception and Awards Ceremony April 29, 2010 - 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
