Progress Committee Meeting
From yesterday's Progress Committee Meeting, Carole reports that they expect the building to be enclosed by the end of January.  Roofing will begin in mid-January, followed by outside sheeting.

One-quarter of the cement floor has not yet been poured, but will take place after the building is enclosed.

Steel has arrived

Here's a picture of the steel that was delivered last Thursday and Friday.

They will start putting up the steel for the walls this week, starting on the north side.

75-ton Crane

You may have already noticed the 75-ton crane on the building site!  It will be there throughout the entire building process.

Steel Coming
We spoke with Jamie the construction manager this week.  He told us that they may have to hire temporary laborers to remove yesterday's snow from the slab.

3 loads of structural steel will be arriving on Thursday, along with steel joists and the steel deck (like roof sheeting) sometime in the next week or two.  They will start bolting up the structural steel with a particular kind of bolt whose head spins off when it has reached the desired strength.  They can do this work in the cold, though it will go more slowly.

They plan to start framing the outside walls with metal studs the week of December 24th.  It sounds like they will work through the holiday weeks -- they'll stop by noon on the 24th and start back up on the 26th, have another short day on the 31st and be back on January 2nd.
