JUNE 4, 2012
Hug Your Cat Day

Did you know that today is Hug Your Cat Day? Where and how this holiday first came to be celebrated has been hard to trace but it might have something to do with the fact that June is Adopt a Cat Month!

Did you know that cats were domesticated in ancient Egypt and many have been found mummified in tombs? Also, in Babylonia, cats were highly regarded because they caught poisonous snakes within the home. They were also praised for being extremely clean animals.

Pick up your kitty, give him a hug, and spend some quality time with him! Maybe a nice scratch behind the ears or a belly rub would be a good way to celebrate. Take a nap with your feline friend and give him his favorite treats or even some catnip. You can even teach your cat to come when called!
