For example, in real life high school:
- No one gets swirlied or slurpied
- People who hate you don’t ruin your life forever
- No one has a truly evil arch nemesis
- Everyone coexists, having friends in many friend groups
- There are no salad bars or swimming pools
- Girls eat
- No one has classmates who have superpowers
- Good athletes aren’t always attractive
- Nerds are not pathetic and useless
- No one is cool enough or rich enough to have a party for the entire school
And in high school on television:
- The lockers are HUGE!
- People always breakdance in front of the school and on the tables in the cafeteria
- Friend groups are clearly defined with no crossover
- Cheerleaders dress in uniform every day, both in school and out of school
- Chemistry class always involves goggles and mixing chemicals
- Everyone hates gym class
- Jocks and cheerleaders always date
- Parents are either your BFFs or your enemies
- Choreographed musical numbers happen every day in school
- Relationships always involve serious drama!
