The 2010 JHunt Award
A few years ago, a group of teens, librarians, teachers, and parents on an email list called Adbooks (teens can join!) decided they didn't like the official award winners and they would make their own award for the best teen book of the year. They named the award the JHunt after Jonathan Hunt, a librarian who is influencial in the world of teen librarians.

This is the short list of nominated titles for the 2010 JHunt Award:

Before I Fall Before I Fall
by Lauren Oliver

Revolution Revolution
by Jennifer Donnelly

A Conspiracy Of Kings A Conspiracy Of Kings
by Megan Whalen Turner

Finnikin Of The Rock Finnikin Of The Rock
by Melina Marchetta

Incarceron Incarceron
by Catherine Fisher

Before I Fall Ship Breaker
by Paolo Bacigalupi

They Called Themselves The KKK They Called Themselves The KKK
by Susan Campbell Bartoletti

Members of the email list will discuss and vote on these books until three remain, and then choose a winner on January 9th.

Have you read any of these books? What do you like or dislike about any of them? Which would you choose as the best book of the year? What book would you prefer to see on this nominees list?

I LOVED 'Will Grayson Will Grayson' it kept me involved and interested the whole book, which a lot of books don't really do. It hit some ideas and problems a lot of writters won't touch much on. It kept me laughing and it was a wonderful read!

Ky - I think Will Grayson is going to be my favorite book of 2010. That musical was just over the top! Scratch - I also enjoyed Finnikin very much. I didn't see the twist about the main girl until it was practically revealed! In retrospect, I probably should have known, but, gosh. What a world!
