Did you try our experiment from last week? Want to know the science behind what you saw? This experiment was an example of emulsification. Milk contains proteins and fats. When we added the water / soap it changed how these fats and proteins worked together. The soap weakened the surface tension of the milk creating the swirling colors you observed. Dishwashing soap is similar to the bile in your small intestine. This helps you break down fats that you eat. Dishwashing soap brings together grease and water making it easier to clean your plate. Tune in next week for more exciting science facts!
