Bidding Adieu to our Executive Director
Bittersweet news to report on the JCPL front. Executive Director Marcellus Turner has submitted a letter of resignation to the Library Board of Trustees, effective July 15. Marcellus is moving on to become city librarian of Seattle Public Library.

MT, as he's known around the Library, joined JCPL in 2002 as director of library programs and services and was named to the executive director position in 2008. In his new position, Turner will oversee Seattle's main library and 26 branch libraries.

"This was a very tough decision for me," MT said. "Jefferson County is a wonderful community, and JCPL is one of the most innovative libraries I have ever worked with. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work with such a supportive board and dedicated and professional employees, and I can't begin to express the joy that this job and library have given me."

The Trustees will launch a nationwide search for a new executive director as quickly as possible.

I agree with Mr. Turner that Jefferson County is a wonderful community and one of the most innovative libraries... We glad to have him with us...wish you best of luck in the future in Seattle...been in one of Seattle library when I visit friend of mine in U. Washington, we visit International District / Chinatown Branch...it's wonderful library...felt like sitting in Stanley Lake library but library structure are different from stanley lake, study room is fantastic...only thing is that you have to pay for parking..which pretty much like you visit Denver Central library...JCPL is the most wonderful library in the country..regardless..
