Bidding Farewell to the Trees at Columbine
Linden Trees at Columbine LibraryYou’ve probably noticed some work going on around the entrance to the Columbine Library. Last year, our much-loved linden trees began showing signs of stress. Concerned, we consulted the Library’s arborist who informed us that the sidewalk vaults in front of the library will not sustain healthy trees. Unfortunately, this means the trees have to be removed, the sidewalk vaults need to be closed and the sidewalk restored in front of the library. We expect to complete the work in May.

We regret the loss of our trees, but our first priority is always the safety of our patrons and employees. We hope you understand and thank you for your support.

We're wondering if you were able to transplant these lovely trees elsewhere. I will miss their appearance.

Unfortunately, we were not able to transplant the trees we removed elsewhere. The arborist advised that trees were not able to be replanted. But, we're exploring ideas of how to "make it up" to Mother Earth in other ways.
