MAY 20, 2009
Time to get creative!

Be creative @your library is our summer library program theme.  This theme is used by over 30 other states, so travelers may notice similiarities this summer.  At the Brilion Library, we are putting finishing touches on our summer program.  Decorations are being put into place.  Our afterschool group created some beautiful flowers, which add lots or bright color and beauty to the front entrance of the library.

We are asking all of our program signees to create a cat for the wall in the children's section.  Eventually a little mouse will be put with all the cats and children can find the mouse as it moves among the cats.

The library encourages everyone to sign up and read this summer.  But summer at the library isn't just about reading.  It's about creativity and there will be plenty of places for creativity to be expressed at the library.  Storytime will feature singing, dancing, music, art, and creativty with play, animals and water.  The Library is sponsoring a talent contest for youth of all ages.  Share your unique talent in a 3 minute skit as part of "Brillion's got talent contest."  Try your hand at identifying the person of the week each week during the summer.  The person of the week are artists, musicians and authors.  Preschoolers can play I spy a color.

Summer is about family and the library brings weekly family programs with entertainers and movies.  Randy Peterson, Wise Guy and his Gal, Pat Filzen and her pop up books program, Jennifer from the Brillion Nature Center with  "Nature's Palette", Fred Turk music, and The Magic of Jim Lenz are all great programs for the whole family.  Musicals are the theme of this summers weekly movies.  The library will project a full length movie on the screen.  Come spend your Mondays watching a movie and enjoying popcorn!  The best thing about the family programs and the movies is they are free to attend!  That's right, the library doesn't charge admittance to its programs!  So with our tight economy, don't forget the Library!

Children have the chance to be creative all summer. Stop in at the Library and create a craft throughout the summer.  The library will have a bi-weekly craft available for making and taking home after we decorate the library for a couple of weeks.

Summer reading programs are being distributed to the area schools over the next couple of weeks.  Don't forget to take a look at the lime green flyer and make plans to be a part of the Brillion's Library's summer of creativity!
