Library gears up for exciting summer

The Brillion Library will be a part of the multi-state "Be Creative @your Library" summer reading program.  In addition to reading programs for the whole family, The Brillion Library will offer family programs, musical movies, a day camp for youth in Grades 3-6, programs for young adults, and a few adult programs.

Our summer will kick off as a part of BrillionFest on Saturday, June 6th.  At 11 a.m., the Library will be sponsoring popular children's entertainer, Randy Peterson.  Randy has been a part of the Library's summer program for many years.  His singing and fun songs are sure to delight any audience.  Make plans to help us kick off summer by coming to this performance at Peter's Park.

A variety of family programs are lined upfor the summer. "Wise Guy and his Gal" will present "Imagireadination Fantabookasy"  This dynamic duo sing, dance and act in a fun performance.  Area artist Pat Filzen will be presenting a program on Pop-up books.  She will share some of the pop-up books that she owns as well as demonstrate how to make a pop-up book.  The audience will be given time to create their own pop-ups.  Jennifer "Louie" from the Brillion Nature Center will be presenting a program entitled "Nature's Palette."  Grandpa, Fred Turk will present a show with singing and instrument playing.  He has performed at the Milwaukee Zoo for many years.  Brillion's own magician, Lee Haushalter will present a magic show.  The other family program lined up is a local talent show.  Youth are invited to partiicpate in "Brillion's Got Talent Contest."  The public can come and view what talent is here at the Library.

For youth in Grades 3-6, the library will be sponsoring a day camp July 20-23rd.  Youth will have the opportunity to write, report, sing, dance, create art and crafts.  Chris Havel will be presenting the writing part.  Kate Wittmann will be teaching some dancing.  We are looking at a scrapbooking, and music sessions.  This camp requires registratration, so mark your calendar and make plans to be a part.

For teens, the library offers some competition.  Wii gaming and the Battle of the Books are the 2 areas of competition.  The library will be holding Wii gaming tournaments in bowling, boxing, Mario Smash Brothers, Mario Kart and Guitar Hero.  Winners will be crowned who will compete in a MCLS competition to be held in October.  The Battle of the Books is another competition where a team of youth are quizzed on their knowledge of 8 different teen books.

The Library also will be offering a Henna Body Art program with Amy Wilde. Program date is July 8th from 2-4 p.m.  Size is limited to 30 participants, so there will be registration for this event.

On most Mondays during the summer starting at 1:30 p.m., the library will be showing some musical films on a screen.  Come join us for these movies.

Summer program brochures are being developed and will be handed out at the area schools.  The brochure will be on the website and at the Library, Community Center and City Hall.  Why not join us and plan on Being creative at the Brillion Public Library.
