The second adventure for a girl and her ability to communicate with ghosts, this book written by Meg Cabot is a must read. It follows Suze and the story of the girl who wakes her up at night weeping. The ghost tells her to go see Mr. Beaumont, and so she does... Only to find out that he's really a vampire. Or at least, one of the Beaumonts is. The vampire has killed several other people and will make an attempt to kill Suze. A must read for Twilight fans.

The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg

Rating: Excellent! (5)

This great book, written by Elizabeth Eulberg, was both entertaining and inspiring. It is about this one high school aged girl who has a bad experience with dating and decides to try not dating for awhile. She starts a club with her friends and they have fun together on Saturday nights by watching movies and having parties. As soon as she meets this wonderful guy, though, things get a little rough. Eventually all her problems are solved and there is an extremely happy ending. I was sad to have to put it down.

The Skating Pond by Deborah Joy Corey

Rating: Good (4)

This book was different than I thought it was going to be. Early on it seemed to go with the subject described in the inside flap, but afterwards it strayed off the original topic. It easily relates back to the original topic but not I was expecting. Beyond that the author enjoyed to intertwine different stories of life into the same section, not clearly stating that they were different points of time. However my mother and I both agreed that the story is one of the saddest that we have read. Yet there is a captivating feature that requires the reader to keep diving further and further into the book. I loved it. The entire book I wanted to try to understand the main character and her family, forcing my reading to continue.

Generation Dead by Daniel Waters

Excellent! (5)

Overall I enjoyed this book, after I finished it I went on the Library Catalog to see if the next books were available for me to read. I loved the change for zombies. Usually zombies aren't "good" and there isn't a lot of insight onto why they are like they are. But this book tries to have the zombies discover what they are and why. It puts the reader into the world where they would have to interact with the zombies, choosing either to be a fan of the differentially biotic or the traditionally biotic. The author did a great job with the ending so that I was hooked to read the next book. I didn't like however that during some parts of the book the author would drop the current scene and start a new one, never going back to the original scene. I would definitely recommend it to a teen audience that enjoys mythical beings or a strange love story.

The Lightning Thief

Rating: Just Okay (3)

The Lightning Thief in itself is a pretty good movie. It's filled with action and adventure, and quite a lot of fantasy. But coupled with the book, and it's really not very good. They left out many key elements that are vital to the later stories, and some that I just would have liked to see (including an exploding bus and fire-breathing Chihuahua). Also, from the book, I actually learned some things about Greek mythology. As for the movie, well, let's just say that if they weren't going to stick to the book, they could have at least gotten the mythology right. Also, the characters of Percy and Annabeth are supposed to be twelve in The Lightning Thief. They are certainly not twelve in the movie. *Spoiler Alert* They don't get together and start liking each other until the 5th book! All in all, The Lightning Thief is an okay movie, but incomparable to the book.

The Tail of Emily Windsnap by Liz Kessler
Rating: Good

Emily is just an average girl, that is until the day of her, first ever, swimming lessons. Emily lives on a house boat with her mother. You'd think it's strange how she always is around the water, but has never actually been in it. She has never been swimming, she always takes showers, not baths. Eventually, Emily finds out that she is a mermaid and her dad is a merman out at sea. He is in a mermaid jail, locked up because he had a child with a human. It is Emily's job to find her dad with a little help, from the man who runs the lighthouse, who really turns out to be no help at all.
