People Of The Wolf by Kathleen O\\\'Neal & W.Michael Gear

A very fast paced book that takes place around 15,000 years ago. A book that should be read by a mature person. Very well written and a "stay up to finish the last chapter" read.

"The Wild Girl" by Jim Fergus

Rating: Excellent! (5)

The Wild Girl by Jim Fergus

The Wild Girl is a story that really makes you think about the nature of man and what we have come to as a species. How much people can differentiate from region to region, and how that affects the way we look at life. Taking place in 1932, it makes you think about the destruction of the native peoples of North America and what that means for a future. A very exciting and adventurous novel.

".Hack: Another Birth Vol. 1 Infection" by Miu Kawasaki

Rating: Excellent! (5)

Hack Another Birth Vol 1 by Miu Kawasaki

I thought this book was excellent for many reasons. One, being that it is based off one of my favorite videos games. Two, is that the book has a fantastic story line and great characters you will want to keep reading about. The third reason is that the book is full of action and suspense.
This book is about a girl named Akira Hayami. She is an average student with good grades, and she plays tennis after school. Her life is normal until her brother suddenly goes into a coma. The last thing he saw was his computer screen locked on to the game he was playing..."The World", a massively multiplayer, online game has millions of players. Akira joins the game to figure out how her younger brother fell into a coma after playing this game. She meets many friends along the way who help her fight battles and discover clues about the game. But what is worse than just her brother falling into a coma is that many other people are also falling into a coma because of this wretched game.

"OCD Love Story" by Corey Ann Haydu

Rating: Good (4)

OCD Love Story by Corey Ann Haydu

OCD Love Story is about Bea, a teenage girl who goes to an all girls private school, and you guessed it, has OCD. Throughout the book, Bea struggles with her mental illness and goes through the ups and downs of having OCD. One of Bea's OCD habits, or her compulsions as her therapist refers to them includes stalking people. This may make some readers feel nervous and frustrated for her because this puts Bea in some incredibly embarrassing and even frightening situations. I would recommend this book to people who are willing to dig deep and connect to a character who is not easily relatable. Although it is not a light, easy read, it is a great book.

"Divergent" by Veronica Roth

Rating: Excellent! (5)

Divergent by Veronica Roth

Divergent by Veronica Roth is a young adult book set in a dystopian Chicago where the citizens are divided up into different groups called factions, each of which prioritizes a certain characteristic. There's Candor (honesty), Amity (kindness), Abnegation (selflessness), Erudite (intelligence) and Dauntless (bravery). At the age of 16, each member must choose which faction to reside in for the remainder of their lives. Here begins the story of Beatrice Prior, a member of Abnegation who struggles to find out her true values and beliefs in this world gone wrong. This is a highly recommended read to anyone who is a fan of the Hunger Games or just dystopian fiction in general.

"Carnival Of Souls" by Melissa Marr

Rating: Excellent! (5)

Carnival Of Souls by Melissa Marr

Mallory grew up raised by a witch, thinking she was human. She thought all daimons were evil. Aya grew up part of the ruling caste in the City. She could live a life of luxury, but all she wants is to have power and not be married and forced to breed. Kaleb is a cur, the lowest of the low in the City. He needs power in the City to help him and his packmate, Zevi, survive. In the Carnival of Souls, Aya and Kaleb must fight for their lives and the opportunity to join the ruling caste, or in Aya's case, receive a position of power. Mallory, on the other hand, is just learning who she really is. As their paths intertwine, they will discover that species or caste doesn't determine who someone really is. "Carnival of Souls"? by Melissa Marr is a great book that I would definitely recommend.

"Peeled" by Joan Bauer

Rating: Excellent! (5)

Peeled by Joan Bauer

Peeling away at a news story is no easy task, especially not for Hildy Biddle of Banesville. Hildy is the daughter of a deceased journalist and a farmer's daughter, the ex-girlfriend of Nathan and Lev, and a journalist for her high school paper, The Core. Things in Banesville weren't as they had always been. The old Ludlow house had spooky happenings going on such as a mysterious man trying to break in and the dead corpse of Donny Lupo found by the house. All of these happenings make for a great story, when reported with great detail and no misleading errors. The Core and its staff is very good at this detailed kind of reporting, however the town newspaper isn't. When Midian Associates comes into town and discovers the Ludlow place the decide to market it. Step 1, move the Ludlow place from Farnsworth Road to Red Road, relocating the many families that have lived there for generations. Step 2, flatten the land. Step 3, build a haunted house themed amusement park. Will Hildy be able to stop Midian Associates, confront Pen Peidmont, the editor of the town newspaper, about misleading the public, and deal with her social life? Read "Peeled" to find out. ;)

Rating: Excellent! (5)

The Mark Of Athena by Rick Riordan

The third book in the popular Heroes of Olympus series, The Mark of Athena does nt disappoint fans. The action, humor, and plot all are factors in what makes this book so great.
Annabeth is finally at the Roman camp where her boyfriend, Percy Jackson, had been for the past few months with no memory. She also is hoping to set up a peaceful alliance with the fierce Roman camp. However, things do not go as planned. The group of seven demigods (Annabeth, Percy, Jason, Leo, Piper, Frank, and Hazel) in th prophecy of Seven have to flee. But, not before hearing another prophecy, creating even more mystery than the one before it.
Of course, along the way of fulfilling the second prophecy, they encounter many more challenges, such as fangirl nymphs, various Greek monsters (after all, the whole series is centered around Greek mythology!), the horror of Diet Coke, their own personal quirks and self-doubts, and, naturally, giants and ancient prophecies.

"Unwind" by Neal Shusterman

Rating: Excellent! (5)

Unwind by Neal Shusterman

Unwind takes place far in the future, after the second Civil War (a.k.a. The Heartland War). The Heartland War was a war fought between the pro-life and pro-choice forces. Finally, after a bloody battle, a compromise is made. Life cannot be touched from the moment of conception....but between the ages of 13 and 18, parents can choose to have their children "unwound." The Unwinding is a process in which children are taken completely apart, so their body parts are spread about and can be used by other people. No one questions the morality anymore. Unwinding is a common and accepted practice in society, after all.
This book follows the tale of three Unwinds: Carter, the troublemaker who always knew inside he would be unwound. Risa, who is shocked by the news of her unwinding and is unwilling to accept her fate. And Lev, who was born and raised all his life to be unwound.
Watch as they rebel against their destinies and try to escape the unknown horrors of unwinding. Will they be caught, or escape? Will they manage to do more than save their own lives--bring light to people about the humanity of unwinding?
With unique characters, adventure and action, some sci-fi horror to give you chills, and even some humor mixed in. Unwind is a chilling story I recommend to all horror, science fiction, fantasy, adventure, and dystopian novel fans.

Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer

What do you get when you combine a criminal mastermind with magical creatures in hiding? In this particular case you end up with kidnapping, a whaler ship being blown up, a time stop, death and healing, changes of heart, a ton of gold (literally), and a bomb.
I could not put this book down, and if you're a fantasy lover, you won't be able to either. Artemis Fowl and his two helpers almost (and I said ALMOST) bite off more than they can chew. Don't worry though, this is Artemis Fowl we are talking about.
One last thing I forgot to mention, this criminal mastermind (aka Artemis Fowl) is only 12 years old.

"The Disreputable History Of Frankie Landau Banks"by E. Lockhart

Rating: Excellent! (5)

The Disreputable History Of Frankie Landau Banks by E. Lockhart

What happened during the summer between Frankie Landau-Banks' freshman and sophomore years was shocking. She went from being awkward to beautiful. However, this isn't nearly as shocking as what would happen during her sophomore year. Frankie has a senior boyfriend, Matthew, but he ditches her for his friend Alpha all the time. She can't stand it, so she follows, Matthew. She ends up witness to a meeting of a secret society that's only for boys. Frankie can't stand the unfairness of it, especially since she knows more about the Loyal Order of the Basset Hounds than any of the boys. Her father had been a member, after all. Once Frankie takes matters into her own hands, you won't be able to put the book down, waiting for the next prank that Frankie orchestrates. This is a great book that I would definitely recommend.
