The Invention Of Lying

Rating: Good (4)

This was a movie that took place in England, in a universe where lying doesn't exist. Everybody speaks the truth, and speaks what they're thinking. The main character of the story, Mark Bellison (Ricky Gervais), suddenly has an epiphany and says something that "isn't". He then realizes he can say whatever he wants to get what he wants. Eventually, he gets caught up with the lie that invents God and heaven, which makes him extremely wealthy. But what really happens after the invention of heaven?

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

Rating: Excellent! (5)

Twilight is an excellent version of a Romeo and Juliet type of sceanario. The main character Bella has never really fit in, but when she moves to small town Forks everything changes. Bella becomes popular and has caught the eye of one of the local vampires Edward Cullen. Can they share a love that rivals Romeo and Juliet or will Bella become a snack?

This is a very good book that talks about the clan Skyclan. The clan is a clan of cats and this book is a continuation of another Super Edition book. The book is about Skyclan surviving and how their clan is now. In the book Skyclan's leader Leafstar is running over the worry in her head that her deputy is betraying her. She also has fallen in love with a cat. To her its bad because her medicine cat says she can't fall in love with a cat. So what will her decisions be? Read to find out!

The Monstrumologist by Richard Yancey

Rating: Good (4)

The Monstrumologist by Rick Yancey is a science-fiction-horror about a twelve year old boy named Will Henry who is living with Dr. Pellinore Warthrop. Warthrop is a monstrumologist, someone who studies monsters, which are very real and very dangerous. The story takes place in a New England town in 1888, where a brood of murderous monsters called Anthropophagi are discovered in the town's cemetery. Warthrop and Will must now discover their origins and how to defeat them before the whole town becomes overrun. Although this is a young adult novel, it features some incredibly disturbing scenes, whether due to sheer gore or controversial actions, that make for a spine-chilling experience for more visual readers. Due to this content, it's not recommended for readers under the age of 14. It also had a rather slow pace. The ending felt awkward and slightly unnecessary, since most readers would already have pieced the mystery of the monsters origins together. One extremely unique thing about this novel, and most likely its sequels, was the framing device the author used. It makes the story far more entertaining to imagine that these were real events as recorded by a man in his journal, rather than the fictitious writings of the author. Despite some short-comings, this is an interesting book with an entertaining story line.

The Squire's Tale by Gerald Morris

Rating: Excellent! (5)

The Squire's Tale is personally one of my favorite books. It is the story of a boy named Terence who becomes the squire to the legendary Sir Gawain, a knight of the round table. The book and the entire series (The Squire's Tales) has everything you could want in a book. Action, adventure, battles, magic, humour, romance, and characters you can't help but feel for. And if that wasn't enough, get this. The author, Gerald Morris, lives here in Wausau! I know him, and he's a great person. Read this book, or you will be missing out on something fantastic.
