Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers

Rating: Excellent! (5)

This is a great book about the Vietnam War, it is in the perspective of a soldier who has a medical record and was going to work in a office for the army but they sent him in the infantry. It goes through his time in the army, and his way of trying to survive in the army with his friends whom he has met. It is a wonderful book and I would suggest it to any mature reader.

The Scorch Trials by James Dashner

Rating: Excellent! (5)

If you were the type of person to love Hunger Games, then this is the book series for you! The Maze Runner series is a science fiction series for those people who don't think they would like science fiction and also for those who already love it. In the first book, Thomas finds himself in a strange world not being able to remember anything from his past. When he gets up, he also finds himself with a whole bunch of teenage boys. This is when the mystery begins. In this sequel to The Maze Runner, you are still left wanting more, but also feeling as if you have been given more bits of the puzzle as time goes on. The Scorch Trials is just as good and loads as interesting as the first books. The thing about these two books is that they both at points just will plain confuse the reader, but also wanting them to find answers. In this book, the reader has a good time reading it due to being well written, good plot, and twists and turns that no one can see coming. Overall, this book made me very impatient while I currently wait for the next book. :)

Linger by Maggie Stiefvater

Rating: Good (4)

The story continues as Grace and Sam find more faults coming in their relationship. This story is the werewolf version of Twilight with a twist. These twists really allowed me to enjoy reading the book Linger by Maggie Stiefvater. Being the sequel to the first book, Shiver, I felt it was a strong follow-up that continued the story while also wanting you reading more. This is the book for someone who really enjoys books along the whole Twilight, immortal, romance theme. The series deals with a strong connecting between a teenage girl and a boy that shifts from wolf back to human. It is very interesting, but also unique in the style of writing Stiefvater uses. The author does not stick with one person's point of view, but instead bounces around in all of the main characters heads. Overall, in a short opinion, I really like this book due to its great follow-up and good storyline. Plus, this book is written in GREEN ink in companion to Shiver's BLUE ink. The ink color just adds making the book all the more better.

Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld

Rating: Just Okay (3)

Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld is an alternate-reality telling of a steam-punked World War I. The story follows two main teenage characters: Aleksander Ferdinand, whose father, an archduke and heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary, is assassinated; and Deryn Sharp, a young girl who disguises herself as a boy in order to enlist in the British air service. Despite what the official plot summary printed on the cover may say, this book is hardly about Deryn and Alek's adventures on the H.M.S. Leviathan. For most of the book, Deryn is on-board the ship aiding Dr. Nora Barlow with her mysterious cargo, but she doesn't actually meet up with Alek until near the end. He spends most of the book in a long game of cat-and-mouse with the enemy forces trying to kill him. Despite it being aimed more towards am upper-middle school audience, I enjoyed this book. Deryn has a wonderful something about her and it's interesting to watch Alek grow up before your eyes as he tries to face the real world. Actually, when talking to a friend who'd also read the book, the characters were the only reason we could think of as to why we liked it. The plot is interesting, but nearly non-existent. It's clear that this book was merely meant as an introduction to a future series to come. I, for one, look forward to seeing the rest of the story.

Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard

Rating: Excellent! (5)

I'm sure many of you have watched or at least heard of the TV series, "Pretty Little Liars". Well, this is the book series that the show was based on, only the books are 100 times better! The books show the point of view and lives of four girls, Aria, Hanna, Emily, and Spencer. Four years ago, the girls' best friend, Ali, disappeared. The girls split up, some moving far away. Now, four years later, the girls are back together, and are juggling their own scandalous secrets. If these got out, their lives could be ruined. Suddenly, they start receiving notes from "A", and "A" knows every one of their dirty little secrets. And the only person who knew all these secrets was Ali, and she disappeared long ago, right?
