In Smile, you follow around a girl named Raina Telgemeier, from sixth grade to high school. One night, Raina comes home from her troup meeting, trips, and knocks out her two front teeth. That misstep means trips upon trips to the orthodontist. Which means braces, retainers, and bands. (As if growing up wasn't hard enough.) Will Raina be able to handle teeth trouble on top of friend trouble, boy trouble, and the burdens of school? Read Smile to find out.
Three Days Grace's first album which is self titled lives up to what my expectations were and above. With hits such as 'Home' and 'I Hate Everything About You', the dynamic album shows the dynamics of not only lead singer Adam Gontier's voice, but also the skills and raw emotion of the band as a whole. The album is a definite success, and that is why I rate it a 5.
Stealing things, hustling people in pool games, drinking and smoking... these things are part of Bryon and Mark's lives- until now. Bryon begins to notice that he is changing from a 'bad-boy' to a more respectful, kind guy. However, Bryon also notices that Mark isn't changing with him. As the story continues the gap between the two boys grows bigger and bigger, but they still hold on to their friendship. Soon, even their friendship is challenged in one life-altering decision. This book teaches that the decisions people make every day influence how they will live the rest of their lives.

Watching a museum come alive was amazing the first time. The second time, somehow managed to top the first! Larry Daley made it big and is no longer a nightguard, however his exhibit friends need his help when the musuem can't keep their exhibits open any longer. They are sent to the Smithsonian Institution, but what happens when the largest museum in the world comes to life? Highly recommend finding out!
This movie plesently surprised me. With my preconceived perception of the muppets being for little kids, I was shocked to see that the muppets contain mature humor that will leave the whole family laughing. At parts the movie is extremely corney, but I believe it wouldn't be the muppets without those parts. I would recommend watching the movie perhaps on a family night or when you are babysitting.

D.J. is a girl from Red Bend, Wisconsin. Her family farms, but she has to run it. She has two older brothers, but they don't talk. And now to top it all off, the rival-town's starting quarterback has been sent to her home to learn how to work hard. Things change in a crazy way you would never imagine, but will the crazy changes be all good? Dairy Queen is original and in most cases, very realistic. If you enjoy a good read with some cows in the background, Dairy Queen is the book for you.
Read this book to get lost in the mystique of the Forests of Serre. Ready for danger in a bone house? For a fire-bird beautiful beyond comprehension? For a life without a heart? Patricia McKillip has written a wonderful story with engaging characters. The words are flowingly descriptive and the tale captivating. This book is not rated as excellent simply because it was a little too twisted for my taste and had too many uncertainties left unanswered.
When Anna's father sends her to a boarding school in Paris for her senior year, she is less than happy. Things are finally working out in her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. She isn't happy to be in Paris, that is, until she meets St. Clair. As Anna makes friends and takes advantage of Paris's large film industry, you won't be able able to set the book down. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys cute young adult fiction.
What happens when you blur the lines between reality and fiction? Jorday Casey is forced to ask herself this question. After being challenged to write a more personal story, Casey decides to go ahead and try writing one. She'll prove she can open up about herself in her books AND show how easy it is to write one (her students doubt it is as easy as she makes it seem). Little does she know just how much her story will affect her own life and the choices she makes. This book, which teaches great life-lessons while keeping you on the edge of your seat, is a must read.
The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
Rating: Good (4)
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a pretty good book. It is about a boy named Charlie, and his first year of high school. The book is written in the form of letters from Charlie to someone. You never actually find out who that someone is, but through the letters you learn a lot about Charlie. In his letters he doesn't only tell about his challenges throughout his freshman year, he also writes about his childhood, both good times and bad. In his freshman year, Charlie finds some friends, dates for the first time, tries drugs, and starts smoking. He also discovers who he is, and what made him who he is. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a good book, and I would definitely recommend it.
The first book of a fantastic series. It's a little thicker and harder to understand, but it's still a great book. A small little slave girl with a 'witches eye' can cause small mishaps on the farm isn't the end of the world.. but when she finds a mysterious stranger hiding in the hay she finds she has more potential than she could ever have imagined. So begins a journey to find out her past, guide her powers, and defeat evil forces. Being a Bard isn't as glamorous as it looks, but a stubborn spirit can make it. I've read the entire series twice because they're just that good. Once you start reading The Naming, you won't be able to put it down!
Still Waters is a story about Hannah and her boyfriend Colin. It is the end of the summer before her senior year of high school and his first year of college. They only have a few days left before Colin has to leave, so Hannah plans a trip to Pine House, Colin's family's lake house. As soon as Colin is told about the trip, he gets mad, but he doesn't know why. When Hannah and Colin get to the lake house, it's obvious that something is wrong. Everything goes really wrong when a storm makes a branch crash through one of the windows. Colin isn't acting like himself anymore, and he soon becomes violent. Will Hannah escape Colin? Will she discover what's wrong? Read Emma Carlson Berne's great book, Still Waters to find out.
The story of a young boy in a small village in the middle of nowhere, what kind of story could he have? Obviously the most amazing adventure anyone could ever imagine. A pretty rock that won't fetch a price in the market is actually a dragon's egg; something no longer common in a world turning dark. What lengths will the evil king go to in order to retrieve this precious gift? What will Eragon do to keep his dragon safe? Read this book to find out. If you enjoy fantasy and adventure - this book is for you.
Imagine living with autism through your hole life. Being teased. Laughed at. This is what Holden Harris has to live with every day at Fulton High School. Until one day, he remembers an old friend, Ella Reynolds. When they were preschool age (and before Holden had autism) they used to play together and their mothers were best friends. But all of that has changed now. But, when there is an opening for the school play, Beauty and the Beast, Ella wants Holden to take it. (And he does)! This is a very emotional book, and I would recommend it to anyone who understands what autism is.
