Summertime Fun and Learning @ MCPL
There is still plenty of summer left to soar through the clouds and have adventures galore—all by visiting your library, attending programs, and reading.  One World, Many Stories, the Summer Library Program, is still operating at full speed.  It’s not just for kids. All ages are encouraged to participate, including babies, teens, and seniors.

Because reading and learning are important parts of the Summer Library Program, a Reading Club is part of the summer fun.  After you have read ten books or 25 pages, cross off a symbol on your reading ticket and turn it in.  Children 12 and under receive a small prize bag for their first ticket.

July and August are prime vacation months.  Why not grab some books @MCPL, or download them for free from OverDrive, transfer them to your ebook reader or other device, and take them on vacation with you for that lazy summer day at the pool or lake.

Learn more about the Summer Library Program activities @ your MCPL location by visiting www.mcpl.us/slp

We are wishing you many wonderful summer adventures!

Ribbon-Cutting @MCPL Wausau
The ribbon-cutting ceremony officially opened the exciting, new entrance to the Children's area @MCPL Wausau, generously funded by the Wausau Noon Optimists.  The artwork for the project was donated by artist Dorie Klassen.

Come and see this exciting new entrance, featuring 6 chidlren's tales on the wall, and of course the yellow brick road from the Wizard of Oz.  Bring your chidlren and walk or skip down the yellow brick pathway to lifelong learning and discovey, all for free @ your public library.

Help us thank the Wausau Noon Optimists and help support their fund-raising efforts.  They will be at the Wisconsin Valley Fair, so visit their stands, buy yourself a  pork chop on a stick and an elephant ear, and say thank you Wausau Noon Optimists!

Randy Peterson @ Library
Join us on Tuesday, July 12 for children’s musician, Randy Peterson @MCPL Wausau for two shows: 2:00pm and 6:30pm.  Randy will be performing @MCPL as part of the Summer Library Program, One World,  Many Stories. Please note:  there will not be a morning performance.  An afternoon performance @2:00 pm and an evening performance @ 6:30pm are the correct times.  There were some errors on other listings in the community.

Escape the summer heat and come and sing along with Randy.  You will not want to miss these free performances, funded by the Friends of the Library. Bring the whole family, have some fun, and learn some things too.  See you there!

If you can’t come to MCPL Wausau on Tuesday, July 12, Randy Peterson will also be performing @ MCPL Stratford on Wednesday, July 20 @1:30pm.

Keep on reading and learning.  The Summer Library Program is open to all ages.

New Entrance to Children's
Follow the yellow brick road, but not to see the wizard, to enter the Children’s area @ MCPL Wausau.  The new “yellow brick road” leading to the Children’s area is only one part of the new entrance that has been generously funded by the Wausau Noon Optimists.  A colorful wall mural, featuring characters from children’s folktales, fairytales, an Aesop’s fable, and a nursery rhyme is the other piece.

Look for these six stories when you visit:
  • "Hey diddle, diddle, the cat and the fiddle, the cow jumped over the moon,..." nursery rhyme
  • Jack in the Beanstalk, folktale
  • Rapunzel, fairytale
  • The Three Little Pigs, fairytale
  • Tortoise and the Hare, Aesop’s Fable
  • Bremen Town Musicians, folktale
A short ribbon cutting ceremony, sponsored by the Wausau Noon Optimists and the Wausau Chamber of Commerce, celebrating the new entrance will be held on Monday, July 11 at 1:00pm.  Join us, and while you're here, take a skip down the yellow brick road, and enter a wonderful world of many stories and limitless opportunities to learn and grow.
