Parking Lot / Stairway Update

(MCPL Wausau) -- As the outside stairway nears completion, construction to expand the upper-level library parking lot is set to begin Sept. 8. During this time, library customers may use southern end of the lower-level lot or the First Street level of the Jefferson Street ramp for 2-hr. free library parking.

This arrangement is only temporary to assuage parking difficulties during the construction project. Library customers making quick trips to MCPL may also find the Library Drive-Thru particularly valuable during this period.

Attention: Rosetta Stone Online Users
The Marathon County Public Library's online subscription to Rosetta Stone expires on August 31, 2008. This program will no longer be available to MCPL customers after this date, so users should plan to complete their online coursework over the next few weeks.

Unfortunately, Rosetta Stone no longer makes its online language learning program available to libraries. In its place, we will provide "Tell Me More," an online language learning program created by a company called Auralog. MCPL is currently working with Auralog to bring this service online, and we expect that it will be available to MCPL customers by the first week in September.

Tell Me More offers lessons in Spanish, English as a Second Language, French, German, Italian and Dutch. Among other features, it includes speech recognition technology that recognizes and analyzes pronunciation.

Both Rosetta Stone and Tell Me More have been provided by a grant from the Siebecker Foundation. We appreciate their generous support.
