The time for processing a routine passport application has returned to 6-8 weeks, and 3 weeks for expedited passports.
Effective October 1, all U.S citizens traveling by air to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda must present a valid passport to enter or depart from the United States.
Customers who have applied for passports will receive two mailings from U.S. Passport Services--the issued passport and a separate return mailing of submitted citizenship documents, such as birth certificates. These mailings may occur days apart from each other.
