'Tis the season for Consumer Reports!
This time of year, we see a lot of people coming to the library to browse Consumer Reports magazines and Buying Guides in order to make informed purchases for holiday gift giving. But did you know you can browse digital versions of Consumer Reports from home, for free, using your library card?

Here's how:
  1. From the main menu at www.mcpl.us, select "Research" and choose"Online Resources." Or just go to www.mcpl.us/research/online.

  2. Find "Consumer Reports" in the "Library Resources A-Z" list.

  3. If prompted, log in using your 14-digit library card barcode number and your four-digit PIN.

  4. You will see an EBSCOhost search form. Add a few words to describe what you are looking for (e.g. "televisions," "vacuums," etc.) and select "Search."

  5. You will get a list of article summaries. Select the "PDF full text" to view a complete digital version of the Consumer Reports article in question.
(Optional.) You can filter your search by date, subject and publication using the options on the left of the search results screen. You can also download, print or email the articles from the toolbar that displays after you select "PDF full text."
