The location of the book sale room is still in limbo and will depend on Library planning for the future. As part of that planning, several board members and the library director toured libraries in Janesville and Madison to see their facilities for book sales. Our November book sale netted more than $9,000.
In regards to financial support for Library programs, we continue to fund the Summer Library Program, book discussion kits, free copies of Book Pages and activities. We recently agreed to fund a portion of the Wausau aquarium maintenance costs and an annual volunteer recognition program.
Lately, we have completed taking over administrative duties previously performed by library staff. To accomplish that, we purchased a computer and printer for our use.
The Friends Annual Meeting was held on January 27, 2013. New officers are Ed Cohen, president; Gail Cain, vice president; Joan Cohen, secretary; Mike Brunt, treasurer. New board members include Mary Landwehr and Sharon Harder.
We will continue with our mission to support and promote the Marathon County Public Library. All who use and appreciate the library are encouraged to join the Friends and help us in that mission.
