In the midst of the joys of the Christmas season and anticipation of the New Year comes a very unwelcome gift from the federal and state governments: tax forms.
This year, as in the past, all branches of the Marathon County Public Library will be providing paper copies of all
basic federal and state tax forms and instructional booklets. Federal forms will be displayed starting December 26th. State forms will be in stock beginning in January.
On hand will be 1040, 1040A and 1040EZ forms along with Schedules A, B, C, C-EZ, D, E, EIC, L, M, R and SE. Also available will be publications such as #596 Earned Income Credit, #4562 Depreciation and Amoritization and #4868 Automatic Extension to File Income Taxes, easily the
most popular tax form ever published.
The corresponding Wisconsin state forms such as 1, 1A, WI-Z and 1NPR will be in stock. The Wisconsin Rent Certificate, Schedule WD and Schedule H/H-EZ will also be on hand.
These and other federal and state forms will also be available for download from the IRS website (
www.irs.gov) and the Wisconsin Department of Revenue site (
www.dor.wi.us) beginning in late December.
Free tax preparation help will be offered by various organizations and agencies in Marathon County. We will provide details at a later date.
