Fireworks, Picnics and Flags

The Fourth of July will soon be here and with that comes fireworks, grilling out, flags, and other outdoor fun. Celebrate our Independence from Great Britain by reading one of these great books! As always, feel free to place a hold on titles online, through email, or by calling or coming into your local library.

Written with grace, wisdom, and sensitivity, this novel is about a teen who was conceived as a bone marrow match for her sister Kate, and what happens when she begins to question who she really is. This movie stars Cameron Diaz, Abigail Breslin, and Alec Baldwin. Will be in theaters June 26th.

Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI 1933-34. by Bryan Burrough.  This true crime history appropriately balances violent shootouts and schemes for daring prison breaks with a detailed account of how the slew of robberies and headlines helped an ambitious federal bureaucrat named J. Edgar Hoover transform a small agency into the FBI we know today. This movie stars Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. Will be in theaters July 1st.
