Crafting, anyone?
We've done a lot of crafts this summer in our various programs. We built fairy houses out of natural materials, altered our t-shirts, made disco balls, drew manga characters, wove hemp jewelry, and other stuff! What was your favorite project?

Here's a photo of all the projects I did this summer:
Crafts, anyone?

If you're really into crafts, there are some great resources to find new projects at the library. But they can be hard to find because "crafts" isn't a subject heading. The best way to search is to put in what you are specifically looking for - like "beading" or "sewing" or "jewelry."

Some general books of interest:

Crafty CreativityCrafty Creativity by Sue Barraclough - covers quite a few different types of crafts

AlternacraftsAlternacrafts by Jessica Vitkus - "20+ hi-style, lo-budget projects to make

Or you can just browse the shelf! Craft books of all types are found in the 740s. Ask a librarian to show you where.

You can also find plenty of inspiration (and direction) online!

Erica Domesek's Teen.com TV Craft Club videos on YouTube are really good tutorials on a huge variety of pretty cool projects.

Craftster.org is a huge community of crafters who post their own directions. This is a great place to start when looking for a specific project or something to do with a certain material.

CutOutAndKeep.net has tons of printable instructions written by the website's users.

Happy crafting!
