The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger

Every high schooler should read this before graduating. It is the story of Holden Caulfield. He is a young boy, struggling to cope with the contradiction between his own warped, naive reality and the reality of the world around him. He never fully comes to terms with his struggle, but his internal struggle helps readers come to terms with their own reality. A great coming of age story.

Allie Finkels Rules for Girls: Best Friends and Drama Queens

Author: Meg Cabot

This is a very good book for girls ages 9-12. It is a story about a new girl that comes into school and ends up controlling everybody. Whatever she tells them to do the class does. I recommend this book strongly. And its at the Poquoson Public Library!! Go now before someone else gets it!

Twelve

Author: Lauren Myracle

This is a great book. I recommend it for twelve year olds. You can check it out at the Poquoson Public Library. Its very interesting and once you start you cant stop. Some parts are confusing but when you get to the end it all makes since. There is also Eleven, Thirteen, and thirteen plus one.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

This is an excellent book for high school girls.  The wording in places may be confusing, but the overall story line with its surprising twists and witty irony is refreshingly entertaining.  I love it.

Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo

It was a good book if you like dogs because that is what it is about.  It was also about a preacher and a dog.

Caddie Woodlawn by Carol Ryrie Brink

A good book about a tomboy who lives in the west.  There are a lot of good adventures where the tomboy, Caddie, visits the Indians, has fun with her family, and makes many decisions.

The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros

The story details a segment of the life of Esperanza with profound beauty as she explains her identity and her heritage.  Cisneros' use of the vignette shows the delicacy and rhythm possible in the art form.

Inkspell by Cornella Funke

Inkspell was an extremly good book.  Dustfinger was my fav character.  The book was about how Mo and Meggie and how they attempt to keep away from Capricorn.  They run away to Mo's Aunt's house.  Capricorn finds out where they are, and captures them.  Mo escapes and attempts to get Maggie back.  Dustfinger betrays them to Capricorn.
